Please bring your student ID or other valid government-issued ID when visiting our office to make a request. Regular service time still applies.

Be sure to send us your request from your U-M student email account.

No UMich email? Follow the “Mail or Fax” procedure and send only the scanned copy.

Mail or Fax Requests

Send us a written or typed request letter and include the following details:

  • Full legal name (or name while in attendance)
  • Date of birth
  • Graduation year
  • Last four digits of SSN
  • Handwritten signature

Note: A photo ID may be requested if the details above are insufficient.

Education Verification 

The University of Michigan Law School provides degree info to the National Student Clearinghouse for the purpose of servicing third-party education verification requests.

Please use the National Student Clearinghouse for education verifications.

  • full name (including last name at the last semester of attendance, if different)
  • date of birth
  • year of graduation (if applicable)

Education verifications will not be serviced by phone. Please allow five (5) business days to process requests placed through the Office of the Registrar.
