The seminar provides an overview and analysis of the technique of project financing in an international environment, particularly in emerging markets. The focus is on the perspectives of the various parties to the project, including output purchasers, providers of goods and services, equity holders, and especially commercial banks, international financial institutions and other lenders and will cover the following topics: (1) basic concepts of project finance and the role of the lawyer in an international project financing; (2) legal issues that typically arise at each stage of an international project finance transaction; (3) techniques that are used to structure and finance major projects, (4) renegotiation, restructuring, and dispute settlement in connection with international projects, and (5) the application of project finance techniques to the funding of infrastructure projects in various sectors, including power generation, ports, toll roads, etc.
