  • Alumni-Student Mentoring Programs

Michigan Law’s alumni-student mentoring programs are based on the belief that all participants have something valuable to gain, be it career insights for a student or an alumnus gaining insight into what’s happening in the Quad today. The lessons learned, connections, and advice that alumni have gathered during their careers can provide invaluable guidance to students. To learn more about mentoring opportunities contact Lara Furar, director of alumni engagement and programming, at [email protected] or 734.615.4518.

  • Connect with Students

Michigan Law offers alumni a variety of ways to engage with students beyond more formal mentoring programs. The Law School maintains a list of alumni who are willing to be contacted by current students as a career resource based on factors like practice area or location (the Law School will not share contact information without prior approval). The Office of Career Planning also leverages the alumni network for initiatives like its mock interview program, and student organizations also regularly feature alumni speakers at their programs and events. Get involved by contacting Lara Furar, director of alumni engagement and programming, at [email protected] or 734.615.4518.

  • Reunion Committees

Reunion committees reach out to classmates to encourage attendance at these memorable five-year gatherings. Committees also work together to raise their class gift—no small thing, since reunion giving comprises 50 percent of Michigan Law’s annual unrestricted support. For these reasons, reunion committee members are an important part of our volunteer team. Please consider joining us for this fun, short-term volunteer opportunity. To learn more about joining your reunion committee, please reach out to the Reunion Planning Team at [email protected].

  • Hosting

Most Law School events that take place away from the Quad are graciously hosted by alumni. Whether at a firm or in a corporate setting, the involvement of alumni hosts is a crucial part of Michigan Law’s outreach on the road. For more information on how to get involved, contact Laura Gray, director of events, at [email protected] or 734.615.4501.

  • Class Agents

Class agents serve as liaisons between their classes and the Law School. They update the School on classmates’ professional and personal contact information, let classmates know about Law School events and alumni activities, and solicit classmates for annual gifts. Volunteering as a class agent is a wonderful way to maintain ties with your classmates and the Law School too. To learn more about volunteering as a class agent, please contact Lara Furar, director of alumni engagement, at [email protected].

  • Alumni Service Day

Alumni volunteers come together to serve their local communities while representing the University of Michigan Law School and reconnecting with fellow alumni. Our service day programming focuses on spending an entire day making a difference in local communities. Whether you are planting a community garden; painting a public school; sorting food in a food bank; helping the homeless; rehabbing a home; or cleaning a river, you are sure to have an excellent time while lending a hand to a worthy organization.
